The article details the ongoing repression of independent journalism in Azerbaijan, focusing on journalist Aytac Tapdıq who has been in pre-trial detention for over nineteen months. The arrests are presented as a systematic pattern where journalists are charged with currency smuggling under an elastic criminal code article. This crackdown follows decades of suppression against critical voices.
